Sean's meds have stopped working completely. It is now like he is on nothing at all. I have noticed for over a month now that things have been creeping back to the way they were. The running around the house and jumping and falling down the steps a hundred times a day. I looked back over his communication book last night and realized how many bad days he has had over the past 6 weeks. Same old stuff from before-playing with pencils and crayons, not doing his work, bothering the kids at his table, getting out of his seat etc...Just like when he was on no meds. I think he's like super med-resistant or something. We go back to the psych the 1st week of June. The Abilify worked so well, it was like a miracle, but it was short lived.

Can you call his ped and see if his meds need tweaking? Possibly he needs an increase in the dose since his body has adjusted to what he has been taking.
I'm not sure about abilify but I do know that happens with some other meds.

KK...I was thinking the same thing as CG, maybe you just need to do a little tweaking. You'd be amazed how just a few more mg's can help.
Is he on the highest dose he can take? It seems to me that if its been working so well, he may just need a little more.
I know how discouraging it can be when meds stop working. This has happened to us many times...things can be great and than BAM! over night it stops working. It is somewhat encouraging that they did work for awhile though.
Keep us updated.

Called the psych. Starting Monday we will be increasing his meds. First the Trileptal for 3 days then we will raise the Abilify as well. Hopefull the hand tremors will not start up. I hope this helps and we can get him back to where he was before. I went back over his communication book from the teacher and every day since April 28 has been a bad day. We were down to only 1 or 2 bad days in a 2 week period and now we are back to the way things were in the beginning of the year. At home things are just as bad-he is out of control. I really hope this is the answer and he does not have the side effects since we will be increasing it very slowly.

I'll be praying that it works and that his system is adjusted enough to the meds so that he won't have the side effects this time. for you and Sean both!

? Could food allergies be a factor? We always consider allergies when meds suddenly stop working! Peace, marge www.net-haven.net

it seems that for a few years every Spring my son's dosage needed a little boost. When I commented about it to the pharmacist, she said that she saw the same thing in many other adhd kids too. Usually some time in the summer, his dose would return to what it was before. hope the adjustment goes well.
