I was having a discussion with my pysc a while back about how it was easy for me to tell my kids how to get organized, but I could not even do that for myself at times! I also have no problem telling others what to do at work and seeing that it happens correctly and safely. He told me that was pretty much par for the course with someone like me with ADHD. Do you all think that is a true statement? I am often amazed at the accomplishments that ADHD folks have made in their adult lives and how they are doers. Some of the forums I belong to certainly can attest to that fact! One thing I am observing is that often these ADHD adults also do not give themselves the credit they probably deserve for doing these things.

Oh sorry about the avatar! It was custom made by a member here for me, her daughter and I have a similar taste in art! A lot of my tame art is posted in the bottom section under personal glimpses. That avatar is by Marilyn Manson, did you know he did a lot of art? I did not know it until the member's daughter told me! ;D

I have the same problem. I've also advised people in their personal lives and seen them take that advice and progress to fantastic jobs but when it comes to myself, I seem to make it to a certain level and stall. I have no idea what to do to get past that. It happens every time.
It is very frustrating and frankly, it makes you want to give up after it happens so many times.

My husband is a "self-dxed adder" and he is exactly the same way. He has a very stressful job and has many people under him. He does an outstanding job and is constantly told so by his upper level bosses. They call him day and night and he can solve any task. But....(the big but) he isn't able to do this at home. He's unorganized, never finishes a project that he starts, and is just all over the darn place. I find this so interesting.

My husband is not in a job where he is boss and I hear him complaining all the time how he hates his job. It is a pattern and means by September he will be looking to move on he only lasts at a job for 1-2 years 3 tops and the sad part has left a few good ones.
