Sorry i havent been on here for awhile just felt out of sorts for awhile and with behaviours at home and with school being out as well!! Thank you so much for your replies and advice charliegirl and jj. We went to psch on 10 july, Jadm was very agitated when spoken to by psch but they got the picture of high his anxiety is. He did eventually setttle away from us and did some writing and as he likes dr's equipment!! He really happy having stethoscope, weight and blood pressure done.
Psyc does think this is part of the autism, puberty, hormonal stuff, high anxiety but as he is limited with language diffcult to know.
After discussing everything anti depressant fluoxetine was prescribed (5mg) which i agree, he does need a lift in mood and melatonin for sleep. But would he take this, NO.... i had a lot of doubts with his noncompliance and distressing behaviour but thought ok lets see how it goes. It didnt go well at all i put his pecs symbols on his strip and created a social story with endless rewards his reaction was shouting "no medicine, no medicine" so wasnt sure if it could actually be mixed in his food..... but mixed it with his pasta anyway and he ate only half the dinner.... so that was the first dose of medication, if you can call it that!
Phoned up and told them that their is no way he is going to take it, tried a syringe for his mouth but no way its just really to distressing for him.
We spoke at the appointment about risperdal maybe for quicker effect which is fine but its not that, its getting him to take it in the first place. I did say around mealtime as he doesnt always eat the usual times and can skip breakfast and lunch the only time i know he will eat and drink is 4.00-5.00pm
Drs are coming out tomorrow to discuss this as i phoned today, getting the melatonin is easier as i sprinkle the capsule on his food 4.00-500 because he eats all his food then but not really anything else after that.
Do you know what else i could do or any advice, or any other children you know taking risperdal and how they take it!!!!
Thanks again to you all.
Donna
