College Transition: Things we did

During high school we did a few things which hopefully helped transition. Even if he didn't think it was helpful, at least he learned that these services are available:

• Study Skills Course and Tutoring at a local tutoring center
  Took public transportation after school to get there
  
• ADD Coach
  
• Month long summer program for high school students at a college campus to experience dorm life and taking classes
  
• Took a course at a community college in twelfth grade.
  This was excellent practice in registering, using special services office, applying for accomms, arranging for accomms with professors, and getting to class on time.
  
• Developed a personal transition folder which included important documents etc

Hopefully this board will help parents and students navigate transitioning to college. I am so happy that I can share the information and experience.

"Things We Did" is the beginning of a list, very brief and of a general nature. I need some time to think back about the whole process. Then I'll be able to make it more comprehensive.
