Welsome. I am a new member as well. My son is 15 and started 8th grade this year. I have been dealing with the school system since he started school but got very active in his education three years ago. I have been his biggest advocate for the past three years and i will continue to give him the support that he needs to be successful student. I always gave them the benefit of the doubt until a few years back when I realized that there comes a time when it doesn't matter if you step on toes or offend people. What matters is that your children receive the best education that they can and that they are given every opportunity to succeed regardless of their disabilites or weaknesses! I will continue to do what it takes to ensure that my son receives FAPE and that his IEP is implemented. I will also continue to find ways to educate teachers on the struggles that these children face on a day to day basis! I am happy to become a member of this group and look forward to meeting you.

Hello, my son, seth, is 5 years old and in kindergarten. He is currently diagnosed adhd with generalized anxiety. Sometimes I wonder if there is another diagnosis around the corner.
I am the point of giving up with our local school district. He is in the process of an evaluation but i dont know if i can take the ignorance of school officials. The special ed team is good-no problems with them- they are busy and my child is just 1 on their list of concerns.
Seth hates school. I dont even want to send him anymore.

Welcome, Yaya! I think its sad when a child hates school at such a young age. Young children are usually eager to learn so it speaks ill of the teachers & administrators that your son hates it already. Is there any option for you to home school him for awhile?
