So a little back story and update on DS.
On Aug 19 my son was brought to the ER and admitted to an inpatient institution for children. My son was very unstable and was unsafe at home. His pdocs wanted to fast track him on some meds to help stabilize him before something worse happened.
Med #1 (Trileptal) cause a really bad rash on his chest and arms. They were unsure if a milk allergy was acting up or it was the med, so they removed milk from his diet for a few days and tried the med again, and had another reaction. We then had to break the news that he was not going to leave as soon as we had planned and he had a major fit and needed to be escorted away. He called me later that night and was talking about running away from the hospital and how he punched a kid in the nose and he swore etc. After discussing this with his RN, she said none of those things happened. The next day he told the RN that he didn't remember talking to me on the phone. I talked to him later and he did remember, so it's all very confusing. The day he had a break down the started med #2 (Thorazine). He hasn't had an allergic reaction to this one, so that's a good start. And the last 2 days he's been doing well according to the nurses and during our visits. But because of the holiday weekend, he has to wait for the pdoc to come in on Tuesday. We're feeling good about him coming home on Tuesday and starting an outpatient program on Wednesday.
He told me he was getting used to talking to doctors, but then he said he was tired of talking to so many. He also told me he feels safe in the hospital because they have him on safety watch. And this last time we told him he was going to have to wait for the pdoc on Tuesday, he didn't go into a fit and handled it very well.
well that's all for now. I'll keep you all updated as I have the chance.
