I talked to my son's school psych today about having him tested for a specific learning disability in math. She tried to tell me he scored average in the testing so he obviously didn't have a problem. I informed her he still didn't know his math facts after years of me struggling to teach them in multiple ways so I know he did. She mentioned his scores again and I mentioned the magic words. I told her it wouldn't show in the composites but that I was sure we would find the answers in the subtest scatter. She took a deep breath and informed me she would send the necessary paperwork to his teachers today and mine would be in the mail probably this afternoon but no later than tomorrow. Its amazing how people will sit up and pay attention and stop blowing a parent off when they realize you aren't totally ignorant about the process. Ooh, I'm feeling the power now!
