This is an excerpt from a book about TBI (traumatic brain injury) that I am reading but it fits so well with our ADDers that I felt it worth sharing. The book is called In Search of Wings, by Beverly Bryant.
BEING IMPULSIVE:
.....is what you don't think of when you think you've got it all under control.
.....is that motivation that makes you run, when you only intended to think about rising.
.....is the doing without thinking...is the tasting without drinking.
.....is the speed of an athlete mixed with the planning of a fool, both happening simultaneously.
.....is the quick way to something that nobody wants you to try for fear it might work.
.....is an incitement for the mind, excitement for the soul, and rebirth for inquisition.
.....is the reaching for life, liberty, and the instinctive pursuit of everything before it is lost.
.....is the taking off for the clouds before you realize you don't know how to land.

The book is called In Search of Wings, by Beverly Bryant. But to tell you the truth, I didn't care much for the book as whole. It's one woman's story of her journey. I'm reading a MUCH better book now called Head Cases by Michael Paul Mason. He's a head trauma case manager. It not only tells the stories of several TBI cases, but delves into medical reasons behind different aspects of brain injury & gives ways for TBI patients to cope, strategies to use, etc. Its very well written. I bought it on Barnes & Nobel online. It's helping me understand some of what my husband is going through better than I did before & giving me some ideas how to better help him deal with things.

Thank-you Misty I've kept up with your husband's progress and I am sooooo happy for the both of you. You've still got a long road ahead but it will come. Be patient (easier said than done) and treasure every day with him-which I'm sure you already do.
