Ok - It's Friday 9/12/08 and it's the first day of the new you!!! (Ok, now I sound like an info-mercial) Who wants to lose weight!?!?! Come on everyone, clap your hands. Who wants to lose weight?!?! Ok, I'm done. ;D I'm counting calories and trying to stay around 1300-1400 calories a day. I drink lots of water and avoid empty calorie foods. I'm starting off the week at 176. My goal is 160 - and may be changed to a lower number at a later date. (My real goal is to look better) (And just so you all aren't rolling your eyes thinking big whoop, 16 lbs. I started on 01/01/08 at 236) Share your diet info!!! Anon

Impressive Anon! You have already done great! ;D I would love to lose weight. My problems with not doing so are this: PEPSI. Without a doubt the worst thing I do is drink at* least* 2 liters a day. I cannot stop. I cannot stand water. I have found a lemon flavored water I like but I always go back to the Pepsi. Nothing else tastes so good. My 2nd problem is I am lazy. I hate exercise. I keep saying I am going to walk but never do. I am going to look on craigslist for a treadmill. But I will try. Today is a good day because I currently am out of Pepsi and it is a nice cool day to walk. My weight today is 130-which just happens to be the same weight I was when I was 9 months pregnant. EWWWW. My goal is 115. EVERY last pound I gained is in my fat stomach. I would like to be able to wear my clothes again that are hanging in my closet gathering dust. (before you think big whoop 130-I am 5'1 )

Pepsi is evil! Work of the devil I tell ya! And to be quite honest, I have hardly done any exercise since I started. Just stopped eating like a cow. (Or a pig with lipstick) Anywho - Go for it! Cut that Pepsi right out of your life. Treat it like a bad relationship. And drink water. I hate drinking water too, but I've gotten to the point where my body craves it. So that's good. Good luck Anon

Ok I am here too....verrrrry reluctantly. I am 5'3" and I just weighed myself...I weigh 185. Shhhhhh!
I never weighed that much EVEN nine months pregnant with my 15 year old who was over 10 pounds at birth. Depressing. I am currently in a size 16 pants, and I would love to be back in a 10, or dare I say it, an 8, but not having my thighs rub together would be a plus no matter the number on the scale....
I have had only one Mountain Dew in a week, already kicked the caffiene headache (that was Mon-Wed, I believe), I have been trying very hard to reach for fruits instead of chips or candy....
I, too am lazy, I would love a treadmill, but I need room for it somewhere. Somewhere there is a TV, so I will walk on it for a large amount of time...while watching to distract myself from the fact that I am actually excercizing.

Ok...I'm joining the bandwagon too.
Every Winter I always gain 8 to 10 pounds. When spring and summer come along, I always lose it. So I stay at about the same weight year after year.
Anyway, this year I haven't dropped it. Even though Josh keeps me pretty active all summer, he became a pre-teen and wanted to veg a lot more. Then, when he did want to go for a bike ride or a walk he wanted to go with his friends, not dear old mom. Hence, I was not too active this summer.
So, drumroll please.....I'm 5'7" and weight 187. I would love to be 150. I know thats a very lofty goal, especially for me, so I would be very happy with 165.
My biggest challenge is bread. I can eat it day or night. White bread, wheat bread, rye, english muffins, french bread (my fav), and bagels. I usually scarf down a bagel or 4 peices of toast every night. I just can't help it. I don't eat any sweets or drink pop. The rest of my diet is pretty good. I eat veggies and eat good proteins, its just those darn carbs!!!!!
So, now that I'm accountable here, maybe I'll become more aware. I hate dieting. It's got to be a life change, not a diet for me.

You might actually cringe if you see how much is in a bagel, and you'll grab the bread instead. Also, look for the light breads for those late night snacks. They have saved me big time. I don't only eat light bread b/c sometimes I need more substance to my meal. But for quick snack, it's great! I love bread and pasta and carbs too. I've only had pasta like 2 times this year and I miss it so much. Anon

It tastes so fake to me. I think I would rather just give it all up than go the fake route. But, thanks so much for your suggestions. I really appreciate it. Anon, you've had such success in what you've done, I applaud you. You must have some great will power and strengh. Do you just count calories? I know the biggest wieght loss I had was about 4 years ago when I did the South Beach diet. I lost 24 pounds in about a month. I actually keep it off for about a year and a half. I didn't count calories, just carbs. I think I'm going to go your route this time. The carb thing is just too hard for me:(

I didn't count calories, just carbs. I think I'm going to go your route this time. The carb thing is just too hard for me:( Sorry, I just saw this post. I started out just counting calories. The first 2-3 weeks, I was really bad at it. But eventually it got easier. Once I got the hang of counting my food, (I used Thedailyplate.com to log everything) I started swapping bad food out and replacing it with good food. So, instead of two pieces of white toast with peanut butter on it (440 calories) I switched to two pieces of wheat toast with light buttery spread (385 calories) And then I switched to Raisin English Muffin and light buttery spread (115 calories). I did the same thing with my coffee creamer. I was originally going through a large creamer once a week. Now it lasts for a whole month because I measure out 2 1/2 tablespoons. At this stage in the game, I don't weigh and measure all my foods. I know how much I can eat for breakfast (240 calories) Lunch (210) and Dinner (300) plus 3 snacks (150 each). (and if you do the math, that leaves me 100 to play with during the day)I still measure my dinners. I know I can have about a cup of veggies, 2/3 cup of rice or other starch, and 3 oz of a meat. And the crazy thing is, that fills me up. So...that's about it in a nutshell. It's been a slow process. We have changed our way of living. That's why I don't like the carb free stuff (I did it for my wedding and loss lots of weight, but gained it all right back) because it limits you so much. It's almost impossible to maintain. I honestly feel like I still get my cake and eat it too. It's all about moderation. If I'm going to have a birthday cake, I just don't have 1/4 of the cake. I take enough to enjoy the sweet, and I include it into my daily calories (so I might give up one snack of 150 so I can have the cake of 300) We still go out to eat, we just order the lowest calorie item on the menu (which looking at menus and nutrition, it's very scary what they serve) or I order something I want, and eat half of it, because honestly, portions are way to big. Ok, I have one more thing to say - SODA IS EVIL!!! I'm done. Anon
