I got chase's progress report today, and he has all A's except for reading, where he has a B+. Great year so far....
So is it bad that I am looking over my shoulder, waiting for that other shoe to drop?
All emails from the teachers indicate that he has a great work ethic, attitude and participation....could it be that he is finally coming in to his stride, able to cope with his ADHD?

A lot of kids seem to start outgrowing it when they reach puberty. Maybe he will be one of the lucky ones. I'd be so proud too! and waiting for the other shoe to drop also.

I asked him this morning, if he thinks it is because it is the normal easy, beginning of the year stuff, or the meds are working better...or if he is just getting older and learning coping skills with his ADD. He thinks it is a combination of easy beginning of the year stuff and his getting older...then this led to a discussion on how in advanced reading he felt overwhelmed with the amount of computer stuff they are doing...he says he had spent so much time looking for info(Most likely getting distracted by anything 'shiny' online, LOL), as soon as he started to write stuff down (type it in) it was time to leave. I asked him if he could go in during lunch study and work, or if the teacher would allow him to load his unfinished power point onto a jump drive and bring it home to do some work on it (I have power point on my puters) or if he could simply do research here, print it out, highlight what he wanted to talk about, then go to school and type it up. He then said he thought that the reason he had such trouble with the first part of the project is that he came into the class late and was not assigned a partner. He was on his own and the flow chart "overwhelmed me with all the things I had to enter". He was given a partner and he said after that "me and Brad were flying, getting things done". They are to present their power point today, and he is a bit nervous that it won't last at least 5 minutes...
Then yesterday he was so mad, because his name got called out on the loudspeaker for homework clinic the day after he missed school. When he got there, he had to do an English test he missed when he was sick....but he kept saying, "That homework clinic had better not go on my record! I have done all my homework!"
Jake says that is what they do when you miss a test, it is the easiest way to get it taken quickly. I am going to email the principal and ask him anyway...

I emailed the principal to ask him if the homework clinic will go on his record...and within an hour he emailed me back, saying no it won't....
I really love this principal! So prompt!

Congrats to Chase for doing so well! Keeping my fingers crossed the rest of the year will be the same.
