Conversation between Sean and I this morning on our way out the door to go to school.
S: Oh I forgot I need to take my thing off my bed to school today.
K: What thing?
S: The thing on my bed, kinda like a blanket, but it's not a blanket.
K: Your comforter??
S: No, the other thing.
K: Pillow? Sheets? That's all thats on your bed.
S: No. It's like a blanket but another word.
K: Bedspread? Quilt?
S: YES! Quilt, I have to bring in a quilt.
K: Well you don't have a quilt. We don't own a quilt.
S: We have to, I have to bring it in, didn't you get the note in my folder?
K: Well we don't have a quilt, and no there was nothing in your folder. Was there supposed to be? And what are you going to be doing with a quilt?
S: We have to show it to the class and talk about it because it's poetry day. I guess I lost the note because you were supposed to get it but.....
That's the gist of it. I pretty much have NO idea what he was talking about because he had no idea what he was talking about. We really don't own a quilt. So then he insisted that he had to take his comforter to school. I am almost positive that no teacher would make this request. So I sent him off with a small blanket. I doubt they are "showing it to the class and talking about it" because there is really nothing to say about a plain blanket I got at Old Navy. Im assuming maybe they are going to sit on them or something. I could be wrong and he probably has the complete wrong thing. But he couldnt tell me exactly what he needed and what they were doing with it. Which all goes back to this-Sean needs a bit more individualized attention. I know they are stressing the you are in 2nd grade now and we are going to learn about being responsible but he needs more help. Like someone checking to make sure he brings what he needs to bring home. I cannot wait to get these evaluation results back!!
