ARGH. Last night I was looking at Shannon's online report card & saw that she has really poor grades in Science & Social studies. I talked to her about it & she told me she's trying but there are things she doesn't understand. I asked her why she didn't mention that to me & she said she forgot! We set aside a block of time today so I can sit & help her, but if she had told me in the beginning, maybe her grades could be a bit better. I wonder what goes through her head?

You know sometimes I think our kids don't want to admit they are struggling in anything ... and then we end up finding out a different way (like lower grades!) ... I think too that they sometimes think that it will "go away" if they ignore it ... I sure know Sam has been guilty of that over the years ... I hope that now you know you can help her get to grips with these subjects ... Oh but don't you wish they would just ASK !!

I think Annem is right. I know when I was a kid I never ever approached my Mom when I was in trouble in any way shape or form and my Mom is the sweetest Mom one can ask for. I always waited until the bomb dropped.
Sorry that happened Misty. At least now you know to keep an eye on things. Do they post their grades for assignments? Maybe if you can manage to squeek out some spare time you could have a glance at them every so often.
