Me to a T. So why do we do that? I wish I knew why. Why is it that you can force yourself to do something you have been avoiding for months as a way of avoiding a "new" important task. I may be speaking for myself but I always know full well and good I'm procrastinating and will actually rack my brain trying to think of something else to do rather than what I should do. Anything but what I should do. Are we constantly rebelling against what the normal person would do? I'm not complacent with myself for procrastinating. I berate myself for not taking on the "important" task but it doesn't help. Paying bills is a prime example. Why do I have to wait untill it is almost a crisis before I pay them? I have the money in the bank so there is no legit excuse. That article was good. It sounded so much like me but I'm afraid I'm more confused then ever.

I've always been a master procrastinator & I'm not ADHD. I just work better under pressure sometimes. I know full well I'm procrastinating & I just don't care. It doesn't bother me. I think it's just a personality trait.

I'm new to procrastination. ;D And I can't use ADHD as a reason either. But given I had anxiety / depression and way too much to do.... I think they might be the reason. I'm going to get my self in order in the first few months of the year, with FLYLady's help. Haven't read link yet.

Misty, I too work great under pressure and I think your right, it is just a personality trait and not something specific to ADHD. But I do not get why I put off certain things that are really important. Like bill paying when it takes all of 5 minutes to pay them all online. This affects my credit and there is the chance they could shut off my power because honestly I have no clue if there are warnings in those bills or not. I have no clue if I'm one month behind or a couple. I have been putting my bills where I could see them everyday and that worked for a while but now I'm back to ignoring them. Sheesh. Maybe I just like living on the edge or maybe that is as close as I can get to excitement in my life.

Maybe I just like living on the edge or maybe that is as close as I can get to excitement in my life. You might be on to something there. I don't do that with the bills anymore, but ONLY because my mom mails them out for me now & I need to get them together for her to pick up when she takes Bill's checks to be cashed. (because I can't leave the house much). But I've had this LiHeap form here for a month that needs sent in & I keep putting it off. I don't know why either since we can surely use the help with the high price of natural gas. Things like that I do all the time.

I thought it was super funny and "made sense" to a degree. Then I read everyone's responses and thought, man, I could not do that! I'm too much of a control freak and I can't move on until the first thing is done. My husband laughs at me when I tell him I can't start dinner until the dishes are done because I need the sink to fill the pot. He just reaches over, grabs a cup and starts filling the pot up. It really bugs me. And not that he thought of it first, but that I now have dinner started and my dishes aren't done. I know...I'm weird.

LOL Anon. There are some things I'm a freak about too and my kitchen is one of them. If my sister was there before me you can be sure there are crumbs on the counter and it's basically a mess. I can't even begin to start cooking until everything is spotless again including dishes in the sink put in the dishwasher. I'm basically a clean freak in general. You'll find my linen closet is neat as a pin, my clothes closet, my clothes in my dresser drawers....all just as neat as can be but I'm a slob bill payer and I have a room in my basement that I would die of embarassment if anyone ever saw it.

hahaha you all , I am the ultimate control freak in life, hence my issues of letting some things go that threaten my perception of control! I like to control everyone else, just can't seem to make myself follow the rules all the time!
