Chase had to write a story around Halloween time for his advanced reading class. He brought it home today...it is a nice story....considering he used to hate writing, this is terrific! I will type it out for you....they had read the story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", and were supposed to write a similar story set in modern times. I like it! It is cute....he doesn't have a clue that prom is always in the Spring, not in October...I think he based the character 'Jon' on himself....not sure though.
It was Friday October 31 and it was five minutes before the bell to go to lunch when the principal came over the PA system. "I need to see these three students in my office immediately," he said, "Jon Anderson, Rob Yale, and Tina Morgan, thank you."
When those three students arrived at the high school office, the secretary informed the principal that they had arrived.
Jon had never met Rob Yale or Tina Morgan before, but he had heard rumors that Rob and Tina were dating. Jon was barely noticeable, not because he was at least a foot and a half shorter than most of the sophomores in his high school, but because he wasn't in any sports or any other extracurricular activities, and he wasn't popular. Rob, on the other hand, was about a foot taller than everyone else in the high school, star quarterback for the football team, best basketball player on the team, designated hitter and star pitcher for the baseball team, and every girl's dream date for the senior prom.
"No wonder Tina's dating him, " Jon thought. "He's like super-senior."
Finally the principal called them into his office and said, "The secretary and I put together a secret name drawing to decide which students will be 'in charge' of the senior prom and we drew your names."
After the principal said 'senior prom', Tina went berserk-she screamed in a very high pitch, not remembering that Jon was right beside her, so she made him partially deaf in his left ear. The principal had to walk around his desk and cup his hand over her mouth just to make her be quiet.
When promtime came came around, Rob was with his football teammates, and wouldn't dance with Tina, so she asked Jon to dance with her.
So, we danced and everything was hunky-dory until Rob found out. He got very, very ticked off, and stormed out of the room.
When Tina saw him, she tod Jon off-big time!
Jon came out and got in his car and left in a hurry, tears started to come. And then he saw something in hsi mirror, it was a black Audi A5, and it was strangely familiar, until he saw the driver.
At first, he thought he was seeing things, so he took a deep breath of the Ohio air, and started thinking about how Halloween went, considering it was the day after.
he looked in his mirror again and saw the driver and Audi once more, but about ten feet behind him and getting closer and closer, so Jon tried to speed up, but his Honda Civic wouldn't respond.
Jon got a closer look at the driver and saw he was headless!! It looked like the driver was holding his own head!!
Jon looked back at the road and almost crahed into a building, he heard the sound of glass shattering really close behind him, and when he looked back, he saw someone's face and got hit in the forehead by something and the, it all went black.
The next morning, he didn't come to school or work. A search team was sent to look for him, but all they found was a basketball, some shattered glass, and Jon's pocket watch, which had stopped.
I was about to conquer the world but then I got distracted by something shiny.
