;D Yes, it is time for another episode of an ADHD xmas in our house here in SW Oregon!
First let me say there is still some magic in the holidays for me, the multi colored lights and white ones too, stimulate my good side of ADHD, they are cool and I like riding the motorcycle at night to check them out! I like this time of year for the fact I can show my kids what giving to real things means! We volunteer at this time and we all get involved, we donate money and time to the animal shelter, we recognize teachers and others that have influenced the kids lives with personal cards and stuff! We get to spend 2 weeks together not worrying about school or work!!
We decorate our tree with the homemade ornaments from the kids years in school and the special ones they each buy with the year on it that will be theirs some day and then we reminisce about the good times in the past at xmas! We watch hilarious xmas movies like the home alone series, chevy chases xmas vacation, the christmas story, and others! We eat homemade cookies that each of us chooses a recipe for.
But there are unplanned moments we will not forget either! Like hiding presents we may not find until another year, wrapping presents which really challenges my patience and I dislike (thank god for the person that marketed xmas bags!), We forget to defrost something, the dog runs like a crazy thing through the middle of my attempts to wrap presents and then we trash a roll of paper, I forget about some xmas function the kids have and have to run and buy whatever they signed up for, while putting up the outside lights I end up realizing I have not cleaned the gutters yet this year, I often forget where I park my car if I have to go to a real mall, I drive myself insane trying to find the one popular item because I waited too long and the kids keep hinting that is all they really want, and there are many more spur of the moment ADHD screw ups I can perform during this festive time!!
So Happy Holidays from this ADHD home that makes traditions all the time without thinking about it, at least the kids will remember those moments and laugh!!
