So my son's therapist saw my son in a manic (hypo) state last night. He wouldn't shut up!!!
He just kept rambling on and on. The dr was trying to discuss with him, and DS would keep interupting her. It was a full hour of him telling her how it was. He asked if I could come in with them, and he started talking to her in the waiting room. She told him to wait, and he just kept on. She told him she couldn't listen because her ears weren't that good, and to wait. So he talked to me instead on the way to the room. Then at the end of the apt he pulled out tic tac toe. He kept beating her, and jumping around the room celebrating. Then when it was time to go, he literally laughed the whole way back to the waiting room. I just looked at his therapist and said, "well, he keeps me on my toes."
One thing he did say during the meeting was about how colors calm him down. But it was weird because it was bright colors. Reds, blues, oranges and yellows. And not dark ones (those are evil) and not pastel ones (those he "can't" see) but a jumble of bright colors. I would think it would be the opposite affect. But he says it will help him keep calm. The only thing I can think of, is he will look at the colors and try to "break them down" which distracts his mind from the issue.
So we're going to the arts and crafts store this weekend to get him a big canvas and some paints. He's going to paint himself a picture for his room to help him at nights. We'll see how he does. A little art therapy could be good.
