Wish me luck...today I am letting Sean have a friend over to play after school. I have not allowed this in a very loonngg time because of the way he treats people when they are on "his turf." He is very mean and bossy and won't let anyone touch his stuff, and then there's always the little problem with him punching and hitting them. So last night we had a serious talk about how we treat our friends and that this is a test and will determine if he is allowed to have a friend over again. So basically I'm dreading this...but we shall see what happens.

Good luck KK....I hope he finally gets it, because it would be nice for him to have a play date every once in awhile.

Well, it did go better than it has in the past but I wouldn't say it went great. I had them at the playground for a while and that was fine. But once we came back home he started yelling at his friend and trying to make him give him his Yugioh cards to keep and screaming at him when he wouldn't. He was yelling at him if he didn't do what Sean said. But at least he didn't hit him. Might help that this 7 yr old is the same size as my 13 yr old LOL. Anyway I kept it short, about an hour and a half, and when I took him home they were on good terms. I did talk to Sean about the way he was treating Keegan and let him know that if he continued to do so he probably would not want to come back.

Sounds like a good start, KK. I'm glad it went a little better than you expected at least. You're a great mom to keep trying.

I'm glad Jill posted in this because now I'm curious if there have been other play times and if there is any improvement on how things go.

Well since that time he has not asked to have anyone over. Sadly I do not think he has any friends at school. He also has not been invited to play at anyone else's house. He does play with a boy around the corner and invited him to our house once. This child intentionally threw a baseball through my nextdoor neighbors window. Then the 2 of them ran and hid and lied about doing it, however my neighbor was standing in the room of the window that got smashed out and saw it happen. Needless to say that one is not allowed over again. Sean was, for a while playing with another child around the corner who is 2. I had to have this stop also as I dont really think its appropriate-he is too old to be playing with a baby. Then his mom told me that Sean kept trying to steal his toys and also begging her for them (to keep) as he played the "no one will buy me anything or we dont have any money" card once again. Unlike the school she knows us and lives 3 houses away so she knew this nonsense was not true. I have allowed him more freedom and he has been following the rules-not disappearing and coming home on time so he does play outside with some kids in the neighborhood quite a bit. We have not had any major problems with that.
