Is anyone currently or used Vyvance in the past? If so, do you like it or not or what happened with your experience. Tiff has been on it since Thanksgiving. It has helped her in school soooo much. My only concerns are that at Thanksgiving she weighed 131lbs, at the end of January she is down to 117lbs. Her pants just fall off of her and I took them in an inch and a half already on both sides. This happened on Adderall also. Now she is having another side effect.

Sorry, Uni...this is one we've never tried. I'm not sure who may have their child on this. I hope someone can chime in and help you out.

Stims tend to do that. In many people they decrease the appetite. Some people adjust to them and then maintain a steady weight after a while but it seems like most of the people who have talked about it try to feed their child high calorie meals before the med takes effect and then again after it wears off. In between they offer high calorie snacks.
I can't speak from personal expeperience because my only experience is with Strattera and Welbutrin, neither of which have such a dramatic effect.

Does she not feel hungry? I had that problem with Chase and once he started taking Periactin (cyproheptadine, generic), his appetite came back within a coupld of days. It is simply an antihistamine that has a side effect of appetite stimulant. Chase has been on it for at least a year, and had no other side affects that I have notice.
But you might get some carnation instant breakfast and mix up a milkshake with that and maybe a banana with some whole milk...it gives her all the vitamins she needs plus lots of calories in a drink. I even added a tablespoon or so of cream to bump up the calories even more....

Megan was on this right after we had that last meeting in NYC. We did a 9 week drug trial. It was okay. She had been on Adderall XR and for how high we had to tritrate the Vyvanse to get a similar reaction to the Adderall, I didn't like that. So we went back to the Adderall XR...which stopped working after that! So now we're on Concerta.
And once Megan started on these meds (she's been on 5 now), she dropped 25 pounds. It's been 3 years and she's put back about 15 pounds over the years. Some days she'll eat like a trucker, other days like a bird. So I just roll with it.

Hi unicorn, My 8 year old ds is currently taking Vyvanse 50 mg. He has been on it for 1 month. It has also helped him very much too!! He has not lost any weight so far, but he does not eat his lunch. He usually will at home, but not at school. I give it to him at 6:30 am with a carnation instant breakfast, it takes like 2 hours for it to start working for him. Then when he gets up an hour later he wil sometimes eat a big breakfast and sometimes not. Like I said usually no lunch, but then he eats like a pig at night and I let him. He will dinner and a snack, then around 7 pm he will eat a huge healthy snack, like a banana, some milk, yogurt, craisins, sometimes a bowl of Cheerios, as long as it is somewhat healthy I just let him go for it!! He shows a little more defiance with it, just as he did with Adderall XR and more restless sleep but overall it has been wonderful! Good Luck!!
