I am back! I not only have been busy but lost this site and when I found it again realized it moved. My daughter is still in the university study and has been on meds again since November when I told them if they do not change her to the med group I will drop out and those were the magic words. She is doing so much better since the meds.
I also forgot to add I recently took my child for an OT screening and yes she does have sensory issues and needs OT. I was told school districts do not want to provide services unless kids are at the bottom of the scale and my child is just above the bottom so fell through the cracks. Once I get the written results I plant to present it to the cse and see what happens and of course demand help. If they want a fight I am up for it I have two school law books and know where to call for free legal aide and lawyer if need be.

I was wondering why you stopped coming around. If I had realized you needed the url I would have sent it to you long ago.
Glad you're back!

Thanks and besides the OT screening I did have her screened for OCD, Anxiety, and mild aspergers and she came up with not meeting all the criteria but in my heart of hearts I know something else is going on.

Hi Jill, Glad that you found your way back! I am curious about what qualified your child for the university study and if they did testing, what type did they do prior to entering the study.

Hi Jill,
I'm so glad your back too. I'm MIA a lot myself these days. I hope things work out with getting help for your child. Your daughter has a legal right to get the help she needs. It sounds like you are armed and ready. Go get those bad boys Jill!

Hi Jill, Glad that you found your way back! I am curious about what qualified your child for the university study and if they did testing, what type did they do prior to entering the study. * What was needed was an official diagnosis of ADHD. I heard and saw advertisments for the study and had to fill out paperwork and provide to them her diagnosis and she had to be off meds for the study as well. They do no screenings only go on what we provide and I stopped her meds end of school year. I also had to have the teacher fill out some work as well. After about a couple of weeks my child and I were callled in for observation and more paperwork they wanted to observe us together. What was nice is they explained to my child what the study was all about and asked her if she wanted to help others and she even signed her own consent form.

As I recall wasn't she first in the non med behavior therapy group and then you were able to switch her to the med group? I can't remember if they continued the behavior support while she was in the med group. If this is true, do they consult with her psych/therapist as well? Do they have any input about the homework issues/expectations when your daughter is off meds in the evening/late afternoon? I am asking all these questions because I am interested in how the study and all support services/testing etc are coordinated. My best to you both
