Hi KK, maybe it's the change in season, because my DS is having night time issues. I haven't tried Melatonin b/c it can cause some hefty problems with diabetes (like insulin resistance and elevated blood sugars)
Last night things got so bad I just gave him a Tylenol PM. I usually (and by usually, I would say once or twice a month) give him a benadryl but really blamed the placebo affect on any results. The last time I gave it to him, he said it wasn't working at all.
How is Sean doing? Did you start the Melatonin?

I have been giving it to him but it seems to be hit or miss. Sometimes he takes it and still can't sleep. Other times I have forgotten to give it to him and he can sleep. Sometimes I give it to him and he sleeps. So is it working? I'm not sure. The first night I gave it to him I took it also. It did nothing at all to me. Then again I have absolutely no problem sleeping but it did not make me sleepy in the least. It could be anxiety again or my latest thought is maybe its the fact that when he sleeps at his mothers on the weekends he has no bedtime and stays up very late and maybe his body becomes accustomed to this after 3 nights.

It doesn't make me sleepy so much as it relaxes me...Chase described it as making him cozy. It only works for Chase if he is heading straight to bed and settles in....if he is not trying to sleep, he won't. It doesn't work on some ppl though.

If it doesn't work for some then I would be the one. I seem to be very medication resistant. I have taken things that make other people comatose yet don't affect me at all. Anything that says it causes drowsiness doesn't for me. My dad is the same way.

have you looked into Beneydrl? That was what the Pediatrician recommended for Nette and does work but takes 45 minutes to kick in so plan accordingly. Ask the Pediatrician for what to give since you have to watch the diabetes.

Tiff uses Melatonin. She used to take 1 5mg tablet. Now she takes 2 3mg tablets. She also takes 1mg Guanfacine. I give them to her about a half hour before she goes to bed and then the mixture works well. Well at least at this point in her life lol...

The guanfacine USED to make Chase sleepy...now if I don't stay aware he will stay up half the night despite taking 2mg guanfacine at 9PM....
