:-/Hi, I'm new here. I have a little boy, 10yo who struggles with dyslexia, attentional difficulties, behavior, self-esteem. Just wanted to find some support and possibly give it as well. I happen to be quite a good resourceful individual. I have been through due process and made a settlement with my son's school. He currently attends an Approved Private School. Everyday is different. His problems are the family's problems. We all want to support him. Some days are tougher than others. I believe there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It is what keeps me going. Thanks for listening. Glad to be here.

Sounds like you've had your share of problems with schools! Your the first member we've had that has gone through due process. I'm sure you'll be a huge help to the many members here who are struggling to get their childs school to help their child. And you'll get a lot of support in return. I'm glad to "meet" you! My daughter is ADD inattentive, with 2 LD's & I agree that there's a light at the end. I'm so glad to have you here!

Welcome Carol,
I have a 7 year old adhder; he is on treatment which includes therapies and medication; mine also has self esteem issues; however, I am very happy with his progress so far. It has been a difficult path, but he is doing great right now; I am just hoping that it stays like this for long.
I am from South America and don't have similar issues like many here in regard to school because our system is completely different, but I am glad to have found this place where I can share and get lots of support and understanding.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Welcome aboard.

Welcome Carol! I have a 7 year old stepson(who lives with us full time) who is diagnosed with ADHD, bipolar and possibly Aspergers. He has many behavioral issues and also deals with very low self esteem and extreme anxiety. I have had nothing but trouble with his school and they keep refusing to evaluate. However since our last meeting I am thinking they may be changing their minds. I have spoken to an advocate and she said that due process will be our next step if they refuse again. I am so glad to have you here to share your experiences with this.

Welcome, Carol! I'm so glad that you have found us. I have an almost 12 year old son with ADHHHHHHHD and anxiety issues. You are so right when you say "His problems are the families problems." I feel like my little guy sets the tone for the whole house. Your experience with due process will be such an asset here. I'm sure that you will find much support and friendship in our group. We are so happy that you've join in and I can't wait to get to know you. WELCOME!

I am so excited to have someone here who has gone through due process. I'm sure many of us would love to hear your account of the experience if you'd care to share it. So far its one of those things none of us knows a lot about but many of us have this fear we will end up there. Knowing you have gone through it and won is so encouraging. I'm sure the wonderful members we have here will also be able to support you through the struggles you are still living with. Its a win win situation for all of us.

Hello Carol, Welcome. I have a 13 yr old ADHD ds and a 5 yr old dd. You sound like a very supportive mom. Glad to hear you won the due process. I bet that was a battle and a half. I didnt get into the full due process, but i had to write the letter and send it and then they agreed to an IEP. And i know that was stressfull enough for me.
