So, last Friday Josh had his scheduled appointment with his therapist. Since he's been doing fairly well with his anxiety, we've been going just once a month. The treatment plan was that as soon as we were done homeschooling this year we would go back to once a week/or twice a month to get him ready for the transition to high school. We all agreed that he was really going to need this summer to brush up on some skills and be able to handle his anxiety for the transition. This plan has been well thought out and in place for 5 months now.
So we go to his appointment on Friday, and I'm ready to get down to business. I think I'm having as much anxiety about this change as him...lol. She takes him back for 45 mins and then calls me back. I sit down and she informs me that she's leaving the agency and next week is her last week! I swear I about fell off my chair! Here we are in the middle of this most important time for him and she's leaving. Not only that, she failed to send me a letter, give me a call, just nothing! I was so pi$$ed I about lost it. I don't blame her for leaving, its just the way it was presented! I wasn't able to prepare Josh in any way for this event...she just told him this was his last visit with her. Josh didn't know what to do, I was in complete shock, and we both just walked out in a daze. Is it too much to ask, after a 4 year relationship, to have a little notice? In her defense, we did have an appoint 2 weeks ago, but we had to cancel because Josh was sick. But even so, I don't think that's enough time to let clients know.
I am so angry. Now I have to find him another therapist, pray I can get him in soon, and hope for the best. It takes him so long to open up and trust somebody. I just don't see that happening before the school year starts. This therapist was a really good fit for him. She has been so helpful, that's why I'm so shocked she left her clients this way. She's known for 5 weeks she was leaving.
Arrrrgggg...thanks for the vent.
