For those of us who do not have teenagers yet this may help prepare us for what is ahead. For anyone who already has teenagers please do share your experiences.
Teenagers with ADHD

Living with a teenager is always a bumpy road. While parents work at trying to let go, trying to allow their teen some room to grow and make sound decisions, the teens are working hard at finding their own path in life. Sometimes, these roads take such different turns, both parents and teens find themselves wondering how they will possibly manage to get along for the next hour, never mind the next several years.

That is a really good article but I don't buy into some of it! Everyone has to remember that ADHD kids vary in so many areas...
When Paul was 15 for example he wasn't emotionally 9 years old...I don't think I could have stood it if that was the case!

Aggressive teens more likely to try tobacco, pot

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Among young adolescents, aggression is linked to a likelihood of experimenting with cigarettes or marijuana for the first time, while impulsivity confers a greater risk of trying alcohol, a new study shows.
However, the researchers found no association between attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and substance-use initiation....
The researchers also found that aggressive teens were more likely to use substances heavily and to try more substances.
However, Ernst and her colleagues found that children with ADHD, ADHD plus conduct disorder, depression or anxiety were no more likely to try substances than their peers without a psychiatric diagnosis. The team suggests that it may make more sense to identify at-risk teens by looking at the severity of certain behavioral symptoms, rather than any particular psychiatric diagnosis.

That is GREAT newsm Cynthia! Its a relief to hear that. I get so worried when I read that ADHDers are susceptible to those evils! My daughter is almost a teen & the world is scary these days.
I also think that children who have open relationships with thier parents & arent afraid to talk to them about sex, drugs, alcohol, etc, atre less likely to do those things.
