A few weeks ago Shannon stopped having any school work to do & she told me several times that her IEP teacher had not been at school & she couldn't go to the resource room because her teacher wasn't there. He was such a nice guy but he made so many promises that he never followed through on. I emailed the principal a few times but never received any real answers from him either. Then one day last week Shannon told me she got a new IEP teacher & boy have things finally started looking up. This woman is AWESOME! She called me today to give me an update & gave me every detail of how she's helping Shannon. She went with Shannon to EACH of her teachers to get all the work Shannon is behind on, she made an organization system for Shannon, she scheduled in a couple periods each day that Shannon is going to the resource room so she can actually get caught up & also get help where its needed. She apologized over & over for the other teacher leaving (he actually took a job elsewhere without informing any of the students or parents) us without setting up a plan for his students first.Shannon is so happy. She loves the new teacher & actually feels like she's accomplishing something. This teacher leaves the room open so kids can come whenever they need her & she gave me her phone #s & email address so I can contact her when I need anything or have any questions. This is such a huge difference from the old teacher, who never told me anything unless I asked & was hardly ever to be found when Shannon needed help.
I was about to conquer the world but then I got distracted by something shiny.
