That is just crazy to ask for name brands. I never bought name brands for the classroom unless they were on sale for a dollar at Target. When the list just got longer and longer, I always went to the dollar store...and most parents did. I have to say I was shocked last year when Josh started high school. I figured the donate to school list was over with...heck no! They asked for tissues, wipes, paper, pencils, and copy paper! I just laughed and threw the list out! Oh, and AFTER I had to pay $150.00 deposit on his "mandatory laptop", they wanted him to get a $150.00 calculator! I had a cow and called the school and they "found" one for him to use for the year. It never ends. Duesn't he also go to a charter school, Bugs? Shannon has no list...her school provides whatever the kids don't have & we she got a laptop without a deposit. Thank God. Of course I buy her pens, notebooks, folders, etc & I have to keep her stocked at home with printer ink & paper. Yup, it's a public charter school, but we still had to pay $50.00 for computer insurance (non-refundable), and $100.00 deposit to cover any damage not covered by insurance. We are suppose to get the $100.00 back in August...still waiting. I don't know if it was because they were Macbooks or not, but I thought that was outrageous. Oh, and even though its a public school, they still ask for lists around here. I can understand elementary school, where they go through supplies quickly, but high school...no way. I bought Josh just what HE needed and that was that. Between his uniform, the computer, and just normal stuff, it was crazy!

I did not notice much I assumed she needed more going to a higher grade. What I did was get the items from walmart within a 3 week period all in July. Just last weekend took her clothes shopping and due to her fitting in issue I did get her name brand, thank goodness she did not need a lot. I also find the name brand she likes fits her better she loves Justice. If I get her pants elsewhere we need length for her tallness but then she has a tiny waist I have to take in at times where at Justice I do not they fit her perfect. The store always has a 40% sale which helps.
As for needing help being a single mom where I live they have donation drives for backpacks and supplies for just that. The boys and girls club is one that gives out a lot and what is cute is since Annette belongs to it after school she got supplies last year I gave back with a thank you and suggested they give it to someone else in need. They even had her on the list for X-mas gifts which I already had on layaway. The truth I did pick the gifts up one year however gave them to a client on my caseload for their daughter same age they had nothing. I did own up to it to the club and they did not care. Good luck. Sorry I got wordy happens after working late.

I have seen teachers many of times at walmart buying supplies in case the kids do not have them. It is sad they use their own money instead of the district helping.

Now I am venting about the school supply list first of all we were never given one due to we were to get it online. I printed it and got everything within 3 weeks and come to find out some I got she does not need and then tells me she needs 3 more 3 ring binders, more divider tabs, and 3 more composition books. So here I am again spending more money on supplies. I plan to inform them to next year be more specific so this does not continue. arrgggg
