School Supply List!

Ok so I dont know about you guys but I think these lists get longer and longer each year. Dakota is doing kindergarten over again and the list this year is twice the size of last year....

Im a single mom...How do they think I can actually afford half of it and the want the name brands...so I cant go to the dollar store now? WTH?

I know. Shannon was in a Christian school pre-school through 4th grade & those lists were not only lengthy but some of the stuff was ridiculous! I remember Kleenex was even on the list! Crazy. Now she's in a charter school & in HS so there is no list. I just take her to Walmart & she buys the pens & folders she needs & we are done.

All I know is they are asking for CRAYOLA crayons, ELMERS glue, Clorox Wipes, yes KLEENEX tissue...and soooooo much more....Im going to the dollar store...They can take it or leave! lol

They always ask for the name brands but if you walk in 2 weeks after school starts you will see probably less than 1/2 of the kids have name brand stuff.

I used to go through terrible anxiety when my kids were small over that. Once I realized other parents who definitely could afford to didn't waste money on name brands, I realized no one was going to brand me as "bad Mommy" because I couldn't.

Teachers want name brands? Let them pay for it.

I probably spend at least $60 per kid. It is ridiculous! I had to buy Joe a $120 calculator when he started middle school. I have had to buy some ridiculous things over the years including disposable cameras, snack size, sandwich size, and gallon size Ziploc bags(all at once) and specific colored folders that are a specific size with a specific pocket(or not) and a flash drive.
When I was in elementary school all we needed was a pencil and our lunchbox.

HEY!!!! Now that I think about it...I didnt see any either and i had to get 2 boxes of 3 different sizes last year.

Dont get me wrong...I love his teacher from last year...she is Dakotas advocate but man Im not buying everything on that list this year!

Oh and his teacher...for those who are my friends on facebook...she came to his bday party. There is a pic of her and Dakota and a pic of her fam!!

That is just crazy to ask for name brands. I never bought name brands for the classroom unless they were on sale for a dollar at Target. When the list just got longer and longer, I always went to the dollar store...and most parents did.

I have to say I was shocked last year when Josh started high school. I figured the donate to school list was over with...heck no! They asked for tissues, wipes, paper, pencils, and copy paper! I just laughed and threw the list out! Oh, and AFTER I had to pay $150.00 deposit on his "mandatory laptop", they wanted him to get a $150.00 calculator! I had a cow and called the school and they "found" one for him to use for the year. It never ends.

Duesn't he also go to a charter school, Bugs? Shannon has no list...her school provides whatever the kids don't have & we she got a laptop without a deposit. Thank God. Of course I buy her pens, notebooks, folders, etc & I have to keep her stocked at home with printer ink & paper.
