We moved from a different location in January, 2007. This thread was transferred from there and has a different format than the ones which are created on this site.

The doctor decided that she does not feel comfortable increasing or changing Cortni's medacine at this time. She wants her evaluated for more one on one or resourse class if nessacery, Cortni told the doc she understands the direction and knows what to do just can't get it finished and doesn't turn it in. I am sick of her teachers communication skills and am going past her to the councelor. I e-mailed the councelor telling her what is going on and asking for advice before I talk to the teacher and she asked me to come in. I spacifically asked if there was any help in the school for ADHD children, she doesn't have a learning disability just can not stay focused enough to get it done. Or at least I think she is understanding and learning it. I will update after I talk to the councelor. Keep us in your prayers and thoughts.

If you haven't been in to see the counselor yet, ask specifically whether she thinks Cortni will qualify for a 504 or an IEP under Other Health Impaired (OHI)
She may not since she says she understands the work but each school is different and you might be surprised if you know what to ask for.

Ok I talked to the councelor and she said there was really nothing they can do because she isn't failing. She is only making D's. But she is going to look into it and talk to the teacher and so on and this is the e-mail I got from the teacher this afternoon
Mrs. Spears emailed me regarding your conversation about Cortni. I told her that Cortni see-saws with her work. She does well for awhile and then tapers off. I am pleased with her Math at this time. She is presently reading on a 2.3 level in AR. That means 3rd month of 2nd grade. Her comprehension in Reading is presently low. This fact overflows into her ability to read and understand in Science and Social Studies.
I will be available should you need me to meet with you and Mrs. Spears.

Doesn't it sound like she is falling behind she is in 3rd grade and reading on a second grade level, she is struggling and I hate that they will not help her till she is totally failing

It seems like it would be smarter to be proactive instead of reactive...
Pretty dumb to wait til she fails and then step in...what happens then? The instant she gets back into 'D' range they instantly stop the interventions?
