Changing of the Seasons I think

Hi Everyone,
Not sure if this is a vent, or a survey or what...but here goes....
Christian since last November has been excellent, all high honors in school, no behavior problems there. The summer came and he had a lot more freedom because of his good behaviors and very minimal bad behaviors, and most of the bad behaviors were the answering back, the mouth, slamming doors because he was told No to something, but all stuff I know most 12 yr olds go through whether ADHD or not....now getting back, last summer was horrible, as well as the first 2 months of school, where he failed every subject and was constantly in trouble. Being very excited that once November rolled around and I saw no signs of old behaviors, I was thrilled and so was he because of the freedom he re got for being trusted....This summer was awesome for him, he went to overnight camp for 3 weeks, went on a week vacation to Maine with his best friend and his family, spent 5 days camping in Rhode Island with another friend, basically he did more than anyone else in the house, but his behavior also warranted him getting the extra privlages...now I don't know what has happened...He has been horrendous since September 12, his birthday, woke up with a chip on his shoulder and it hasn't left...so basically now that you have that in a nut shell, what I am trying to find out, is could this be something seasonal, has anyone else's kids gone through anything similar with the start of school or the changing of seasons from summer to fall...I feel like I am going in a pattern here, where he is so good after the 1st of November, and perfectly fine until September rolls around then he seems to go off the deep end....lying constantly, swearing like he is 40, breaking things outside, not being trustworthy at all, doing every ounce of school work, studying his brains out, but still failing most of the tests...( this pattern I know, because since first grade he has never done well the first quarter of school and then is changes once progress reports come which are this Wednesday) but right now I am at my wits end trying to figure out what the problem is....is it that the freedom of summer is over, the structure of school starting....he has been punished more since school started than he has been all year since last November...so I am just curious on how everyone else's kids react to this time of year....

Hi Lisa!

You know, Shannon does crappy the first quarter as well. Her behavior is only really bad during that "Time of the month" but her grades stink the first reporting period. I just figure its her adjustment period, plus she has to figure out how to get herself organized for the set of classes she has. I feel sad for you because I know how proud of him you were this summer & how you hoped the biggest hurdles were behind you.

Hi LC,

I've already seen some F's believe it or not. Becca usually gets better as the year goes on. She does her worst in the beginning and toward then end. Sometimes the adjustment period and the more structured environment takes a little getting used to again after being relaxed in the summer but once they get used to it again hopefully things improve.

So far I am hearing my daughter Annette is doing well in school and I love her teacher she communicates with me and gives very little homework. In this class she does not need the reduced homework some days we get what should be 20 minutes worth or nothing.
