Honestly, I had to read and reread this article making sure they are saying what I thought they were saying...that this is a disorder. I just figured if someone didn't recognize me (or I didn't recognize them) then I (or they) just didn't make an impact on them (me). I wonder if there are people who just never recognize anyone at all. Seriously, that could be really awful for children and dangerous. I had no idea. This made me think of one of my sister's clients, she is mentally handicapped. My sister brings her to our house often and she acts like she knows me every time. I've probably been around this client at least 100 times. One day I ran out to my sisters office to drop off some doctors note to my sister's boss and this client was sitting in the waiting room. I said "Well, hi "XXX" and she honestly didn't know me at all! This may not be the same thing at all and it could be that she just was so used to seeing me at home or at their residence that seeing me in the office threw her. I don't know. Your right Misty, thats very interesting. Oh and I think they should also have a disorder called FTN-RTF (Forgot the Name-Remember the face)

Oh and I think they should also have a disorder called FTN-RTF (Forgot the Name-Remember the face) HEY! I have THAT disorder! Seriously, though...you're right. How scary it must be as a parent. You teach your kids not to talk to strangers but if they have this disorder, everyone is a stranger...even teachers & family members!

I have to ask someone about 6 times what there name is and try to associate there name with someone I know or with someone well known/famous and that usually works about 65-75% of the time for me.

I took the tests they have there and came out normal to slightly below normal but I have learned to look for a distinguishing characteristic in everyone. Most of them in the tests had one. When I got married to my first husband and had to pick him up after work shortly after, I didn't recognize him until he was quite close to me. We have a Swan's guy who we have dealt with for years and I saw him in the store and didn't recognize him because he wasn't wearing the shirt. That happens to me all the time. I didn't know it was a disability. With me, I assume its part of the ADHD.

The restaurant I work in is close to home so I often see my customers at other local businesses like Walmart or the grocery store. It never fails to crack me up when I'm shopping in my regular clothes & I say hi to a customer & they reply "Oh! I didn't recognize you with your clothes on!" Other people must think I'm a stripper or something!
