16 yr old in Mass tried as adult

John Odgren, 16 of Massachusetts, is being tried, as an adult, with the first degree murder of a classmate. Odgren has Asperger's Syndrome which is a milder variant of Autistic Disorder. He had been bullied and tormented his entire life and finally struck back at one with a knife.

Stories like this are so sad. If you ask me the parents and kids who tormented this kid should be the ones on trial...well on a trial of some sort for their role in this.


You know we drill into our kids about stranger danger but do we drill into our kids not to tease kids that are just a little bit different? Do we drill into our kids to be leaders and not followers? I don't think most parents do. In fact most of the time if you find a kid that is a bully you'll find at least one of the parents that is too - in most cases.

This is so very, very sad.
