When I picked up Sean from school yesterday his teacher needed to talk to me. She told me he had a very bad day-had to sit separately for most of it and had been disrespectful to the classroom aide. She said she feels bad because nothing she tries is working with Sean. She has seen no improvement in his behavior since the beginning of school in fact it has gotten worse. She did mention his letter recognition is getting better. She is going to talk to the counselor and have her call me.
Then Sean's friend came over after school. I had written a note to my husband from the Christmas tree and taped it to it to "remind"him to put it away. Anyway his friend was looking at it and started laughing and said that it was funny that I made the note from the tree. He then read the entire note aloud with no hesitations.I almost fell over! That got me thinking about when my older son started reading. I remembered he used to read the sports page aloud in the morning when we ate breakfast. He was doing that before we moved in Oct. So now I am really concerned. Sean doesnt even know all his letters. Why isnt he getting more help in school!?
Then we went to psych.appt. She spoke to us alone then Sean. After describing his behaviors to her she said At first this sounded like ADHD but the more you tell me I believe it could be several other things, bp is a definite possibility. We are going back next week alone so she can discuss with us what she got from talking to him.
And finally later that day he was upstairs crying for a while, I got him to come down and he just cried but didnt know why. I said why are you so sad? He said I dont know, I just dont know how I got this way. It broke my heart. He just put his head in my lap and cried for about half an hour.
