I wish it were that simple with the grandparents. It is not so much that they defy our wishes with Sean it's that they are mentally ill. I dont know exactly what is wrong with them but they are sick people. Anyone who meets them cant stand them after 5 minutes. The biggest problem I have with them is they think something is wrong with my husband,me,any teacher Sean's ever had,all children he knows, and Sean is perfect and gifted beyond anyones comprehension. They also treat him like he's 2 and are always telling me what I do wrong. I no longer deal with them at all. I have given myself a"no contact order" when it comes to them. If he were my biological child he would NEVER see them-I dont let them anywhere near my son. They are rude, condecending, and warped. On that note...We had the neuro. appt. today, it lasted 15 minutes. He spoke with us,did some neurological tests on Sean and said he's not autistic, his problems are psychiatric and keep going to the psychiatrist. I dont know, I expected more.

I don't care who he is or what his degrees say he knows. There is no way anyone can know something like that in 15 minutes. I hope you plan on seeing a neuropsychiatrist and getting a better evaluation.
Was this the neurologist and not a neuropsych? Whoever he is, he shouldn't be making any determinations that fast.

Ok well now you have me concerned. What exactly should the neurologist have done? I talked to someone at work before we went and she told me to plan on being there all day so I was surprised it was so quick. Anyone who has been to a neurologist what took place at your first visit? And isnt ADHD a neurolgical disorder? So if it is ADHD wouldnt he tell us that it was,and if he thinks it's something else couldnt he have been a bit more specific? I am so confused and also curious as to what I am supposed to do at this point. It seems like we are just running in circles.

I would think that in Sean's case you would want a neuro-psychological evaluation. At his age that would be 5 or so hours of testing, 1-2 hr interview with you, and then 1 hour feedback session. Something like that. Mine even went to the school for observation. They check for a myriad of disorders, give classroom recommendations, home recommendations, and will even go to a meeting at the school to present their findings. Yes, they are expensive.

Oh KK I'm sooooo sorry! I was hoping you would find the right Dr. Do you think you could set up another appt. with this Dr. and ask him to do further testing on other things that you find in this sight? I remember how hard it was to find someone.
I'm sorry to hear about your in-laws, it's a shame your husband does not get tired of the mental roller coaster and just disown them (I didn't really say that) I only thought it for you! I have had to disown some relaives before cousins not anybody really close. I hope things get better hugs to hang on by
