I got a new case this past week and met with the family or mom and kids first time this week. There is a history of ADHD mom told me she has two older sons with it that live elsewhere and she has 3 here and one on the way and her either first grade or kindergarten is being screened now for ADHD and school called her and sent a note he was caught trying to hump another child in the bathroom and they threatened to call CPS on her ( they are already involved why I am involved we are in transfer process) if something else should happen. I observed the boy and oh yes as he is adorable he does show all the signs with me even had a meltdown for mom while I was present and I surprised mom by my understanding and being able to help. He even climbed on my lap and wiggled whole time while I was talking to mom even interrupting it was cute. Anyways now for the question could what has happened in the school have been impulsivity? I read on another board where someones kid was obsessed with sexual stuff a bit and self soothed so to speak can this be what is occuring or not? I am monitoring the situation and do not want to assume possible sex abuse especially with what I know of ADHD.
Also after assessing mom I am pretty sure mom and dad may have it as well or ADD. CPS is on and off ready to pull the kids for mom has lied to her and there is a serious lack of follow through, lack of motivation going on and they are living in a shelter now. History has it they move around a lot and not even from around here another clue of I think they may have it or depression or both. I have not met dad but was told "he is quick to temper" and has been in trouble with the law a few times. They have hardly nothing and not much income at all and the case came in there was Marijuanna abuse going on (self medicating?). It is going through the courts now due to moms lack of follow through with CPS not me I am Preventative but I did let the CPS worker request from the judge mom and dad to be screened for mental health and ADD so if I am correct it will show and they will get treated plus mom told me she gets bored quickily another reason for my assessment. I say ADD with possible depression.
One positive side they have an awesome DSS worker there to help and full of understanding.
