If this is turning into a thread on potty humor I have to include something from when my daughter was 10 or 11 months old. I used to put a baby gate up so she was in the kitchen and bath where I could see her from the shower. She came into the bathroom one day yelling "Mommy, look! look! " I got out of the shower and she led me to it. She had used the contents of her diaper to make a very good picture for a child that young on the side of my stove. I wish I had taken a picture of it now but back then, all I could think of was cleaning it off and disinfecting my kitchen.

I know this is on some respects funny. However, this is still an issue with children. I went to a seminar last year and they suggested to have the child (preferably) make a list/pictures of the different steps that are needed for a particular activity.
So in this case, 1. Lift or put down seat as needed. 2. Pull down pants 3. wipe (both sides) 4. toilet paper in TOILET. 5. pull up pants 6. flush 7. wash hands 8. dry hands.
Then list a picture to go with each step. Place this in the bathroom, and perhaps this would help with some of the embarrassment. Then the child can refer to it as needed.
This same concept can apply to almost any situation. My son has made one for taking out the Garbage. All I do is give him the sheet on garbage day and it gets done.
Good luck. jmb3

I had heard a lot about that method and how well it works for anything that has multiple steps to it but forgotten about it. Thank you for bringing it up.

I use this method with my daughter too (not in the bathroom though). I use a dry erase board that she can carry with her to whatever room she needs the instructions in. It works every time!

I may have to try this too. I have made lists that she uses of what needs to be done in the morning, like brushing teeth and hair, eating, taking medicine, etc. But never did the steps for each one on that list before.
What a great idea!
