I got an email the other day with this link... www.boostkids.comHas anyone heard of it or done their program? My daughters need help with shyness, speaking in public and self-esteem. eta: I have twin daughters who are almost 15 - so this is a critical time for them as they start high school very soon. Have any other ideas for things that would help them be able to talk to people better?

I never heard of it so I did a search on it and couldn't find any trusted recommendations. I went to their web site and took a look at their forums and it looks to be abandoned and taken over by spammers - or something. All there were were insurance advertisements in every board.
I'm not saying it is a bad product but I sure can't find anything that is encouraging.

The product itself sounded like it might be good and I was thinking it might be worth checking out since there was the free 30 day trial and the only expense if you didn't like it was $13.90 for s&h. Once I went to the forums I saw what JJ saw. There were no posts at all other than spam. I e-mailed the site admins about it.
If I hadn't seen the forums I wouldn't have seen any reason not to check it out. Now I seriously have to wonder whether they can be trusted if they can't be on top of things enough to just look at their site and get rid of the spam.
Have you considered taking your girls to a therapist? You could ask any you considered if and how they could help your daughters learn better social skills. You could also ask the school psych if she is aware of any social skills programs which might be appropriate for them.

I know I felt the same way you did Charliegirl - thought it looked like a good deal with the free trial. But since they had the forum I wanted to see what was being said about it.
Oh and I also sent an email to the company that makes the product. The forum isn't open to even read so I had to join. Makes me wonder how spammers managed to post there in every single board. Hmmmmm.

I just registered to see what I missed and I had been able to read it all. Still, I didn't see anything but spam.

This may be reaching, but getting kids involved in 4-H helps public speaking skills big time. Do you have that in your area?

I think Notellin has a good suggestion. Even Scouts, dance classes, the community theater or karate classes may be good.

Hi mntwinmom, like your daughters my sister and i are identical twins and we have fought ALL our life with shyness/speaking in public and self-esteem. I personally feel that singing is extremely good with your self-esteem. I did it for 6 years at high school and it helped me immensley. Also guids/scouts etc helps too i was in rainbows/brownies and then guides and this helped us both. Although i cant help you on public speaking as i still cant do this. Practice helps though a lot of practice. Sorry cant be any more helpful. Hope you daughters get something
