I thought it might be nice to have a section on the school board where we can post good news. What do you think? Our kids struggle so much in school, and we struggle so much with helping them at home and getting them the help they need in school that I think we ought to have an area where we can celebrate their successes. I'll start: My son made a 110 on his science project!!! This is the highest score that his science teacher gave any of her 150 students, the vast majority of whom are NOT Special Education. He's had a tough nine weeks and had a D in science on his last progress report. It looks like he's pulled the grade up to a B. Woohoo!

Misty, Congrats to Shannon! That's an awesome accomplishment!!! Jfla, I'm glad to see he's making friends. I know this has been a concern of yours for a while. Woohoo! So, are you ready to send him away to college?

Ready to send him away? Yes, I think so. My daughter helped me learn how to accept it as she went off first. We will see when that day comes. This long road with my son has all been geared toward developing independence. So it is truly rewarding when one feels they will be able to make it. Sometimes, I tell him how much I will miss him when he goes off and especially his music. He makes my life so colorful.

Lillian...this thread is such a great idea! Congrats to your son on his science project, he must feel soooo good. It just makes your heart smile doesn't it? Misty...that is just awesome about Shannon's reading! All her hard work (and yours too I'm sure) is wonderful! I'm doing the happy dance for you! jfla...your son's story continues to inspire me! You must be so proud of him. A happy dance for you too! Well, my good news this week is that Josh got a 98% on his math test this week. He's struggled so much this year in math and I think it's starting to finally click! He was so happy when he brought it home and his math teacher made a big deal about it with him so he was feeling pretty good! Congrats to all our little (and big) stars! It's so nice to hear about their accomplishments!
