Okay I have the test results from Chase's California Acheivement test that lillian and some others suggested I have him take after the STAR test results were so high.
His Computation Grade Equivalent (this portion the teacher told me that Chase did without a calculator) he scored at 10th grade 3rd month.
His Concepts and Application Grade Equivalent was at a grade 13...post high school.
His total then averaged out to a 12th grade 2nd month.
They also gave him time tests in all the basic facts Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication (1 and 2), and Division (1 and 2). On these he scored 100% on all.
He also took a "Foundations Locator Assessment" worksheet. The teacher told me that this is a paper that they give to students in the program to see if they are ready to begin pre Algebra skills. The student must get at least 8 of the 12 problems to begin the pre Algebra curriculum. Chase got 9 of the 12 right on that one.
So, I think he is quite ready to begin the pre Algebra at school...what do you ladies think?
I am particularly interested in what lillian thinks of these scores.....

What is sooo funny, is that the director of the Sylvan, who was giving me the results, recommended he come for 36 hours of 'enrichment'....to give her credit, she did look embarrassed when she said it, but man! How did she even say that with a straight face? I am sure that they have to push the instruction no matter how high the scores, but I had a hard time not laughing at that suggestion.
I told her thanks, but I don't think we are interested right now.....

Why thank you...but I am not so sure college math will come that easily to me...we shall see. I have to take some assessment test in the Fall so they will know where to place me....
Maybe I should have Chase take it for me...LOL???

Have him take it with you so he can tutor you the whole way.

Thanks lillian! I was thinking the same thing....the sylvan director was afraid that he 'would have to try so hard in the math, that other subjects would suffer'. But I think not.....I think that he is motivated to do well, and math seems to come easily to him, so he will likely be fine.
I will let you know how I make out with the school.
