I got the pamphlet in the mail with Chase's 5th grade proficiency scores and he did so well! The way it is graded is into a graph marked "limited', 'basic', 'proficient', 'accelerated', and 'advanced'.
His worst score was in Reading, which is his least favorite subject...he likes to read, but does not do well in the other stuff that is required....writing answers to questions about the story, book reports, etc. His score was 436, which is proficient, and still above the school and state average (421) and the district average score (425), with his worst scores coming in 'Literary text" which seems to be identifying the main events of a story and how they affect things later in the story, and analyzing events of a story....I think his issues are in putting it down into writing, but he still scored at the top of the'proficient' range, just before 'accelerated' so I am not too worried, but I am going to follow the suggestions to help him in this area.
In Math, he scored well into the 'advanced' range at 481-72 points above the state average (409) the school average is 410, the district average is 413.
In Science he scored a 469, also advanced, 49 points above the state average (410), the school average is 418, the district is 422.
Social Studies was a 454 (advanced), school average (406), State average (403), district average (413)
I do find it encouraging that our school and district scores all meet or are above the state average, but I have no idea where Ohio falls in the scheme of things, as compared to the other state scores...at least I know our school district is keeping pace with our state.
I am so proud of him, even though these tests were in May, and he was so ready to be done with school, he did his best.
