Ok I know this is nowhere near what kk is facing, but I am frustrated nonetheless.
We get free lunches at school, and need to recertify each year, I sent the filled in paper back the second day of school, last Thursday, I have been checking the mail each day, last year we heard almost immediately on being qualified. Nothing has changed from last year, so we should get them again...
Anyhow, I have asked Chase a couple times, "Are you sure you turned that paper in?" He always answered , "Yes, mom I turned it in."
As I am clipping his completed homework into his planner, guess what I find? The free lunch application. Not turned in. So I ask him, "Did you turn the signed 504 plan in to the principal?"(I sent it in the same day) "No."
"Where is it?"
"I don't know, I think in my locker."
So, I put the planner inside his binder, and he immediately took the planner (with completed homework clipped inside) out and plopped it on top in a huff. I bought him a book bag that has yet to come home, he has left it in his locker, which I was ok with, as long as he can keep his homework straight.
I had to drive him to school because he is starting guitar lessons after school, and he can't take the guitar and amp on the bus, they cost too much. So, we load in the van. We get to school, and start to unload, only to see no planner. We search the seat, under the seat his binder and planner were on, no planner. So, we put the guitar, amp and boy back in the van, drive back home, search the house over, top to bottom, search the van again, under seats, under the car seat that is installed for the grandkids, everywhere I can think of. By now he is very late to school. So, we load back in and I tell him as we are driving down the road, that the book bag is now mandatory, because had the stuff been in the bag, we would not be looking for it, he will be taking zeros for the homework that is now lost, and that furthermore, there will be no guitar lessons until he finds the planner, it is too important. I reach into the back seat to move the guitar over away from him to emphasize my point, and as I do so, I see the stupid planner in the sliding door pocket. So whenever we were looking for it, the sliding door was open, it was out of sight....those of you that have a minivan know what I mean, when that door is open the pocket storage is inaccessible, and you really can't see anything in it.
Then we get to school, and I search his locker for the envelope I had put the 504 plan in for him to turn it in.....nowhere. I went to the office and asked, he hasn't turned it in, so I signed a copy there, turned in the free lunch application, and told the secretary of our exploits in looking for the planner that was never lost in the first place......great start to the day, right?
The worst thing is that we live 10 minutes from the school......20 minutes of driving that was totally unnecessary.....
I was fit to be tied, and we woke Chelsea, with all the commotion, her bedroom is right off the dining room downstairs...so when we found the planner, I had him call her and tell her, and SHE gave him a minilecture, and told him he needed to get it together and "keep his head on his shoulders"
I want to go back to bed and start all over again. I yelled too much, he was mad, and I hate to see what kind of day he has....I did pop into the homeroom and tell the teacher it was a bad morning, just so he knew.....
