Joseph came home from school today with some homework for me. I have to write an essay, one million words or less, about Joseph. His likes, dislikes, hopes, fears, successes, failures, what type of learning style works best for him and anything else I think is important for his teachers to know. He will turn it in to his advisory teacher who will share it with the team of teachers he has. I think this is such a great idea. I wish Sean brought me home the same assignment. I think it would be really helpful for the teachers to learn a little more about our kids than just what they see in the classroom.

That is really cool. If each parent wrote 1 million words though, they would have fun getting through all of them before the year ended. LOL

Send it in and say, "my older son had this as an assignment for me and it dawned on me that it would be wonderful for you as well to know as much as possible about Sean" I bet Joe was happy to give YOU homework.....as if you needed more, right?

KK that seems to be a great idea. I read it and I even thought it would be great for me as a teacher when my students start class in a few days.
Parents would kill me if I ask them to write it in English, Lol ( I am an English teacher and very few parents speak English); but the Spanish teacher and I can use it as a very interesting piece of information to help us know each girl better.
Thanks for sharing!

You could do that for Sean, KK. When Shannon was first Dxed I came across an idea to prepare a folder with a bio of the child along with samples of previous school work, info on her LDs & ADHD, ideas of modifications that worked (as well as those that didn't & weren't worth trying again) in the classroom. I did that & her teachers thanked me...it gave them a "picture" of her so that they could think of her as a person, instead of just another number. I think itt helped them relate to her better as well as teach them something about ADHD.
