Tomorrow I will be starting my Pepsi diet. As in stop drinking at least 2 liters of Pepsi a day diet. I am certain that this is the cause of my fatness. I am not a big snacker and really don't eat a lot or fattening foods. However my consumption of Pepsi is just out of control. It is the only thing I drink besides coffee. I will go without a drink if there is no Pepsi or a close substitute. MY NAME IS KARALYN AND I AM A PEPSIHOLIC. There, that is the 1st step-admitting it. It has taken me some time to find a substitute as I do not like water, milk, juice or really anything else liquid.Well except beer but that wont work and is probably more fattening anyway. So I have found that grape or lemon flavored Propel water tastes kind of good and I will go with that. I will only allow myself to drink the Pepsi with meals because I cannot drink water with food. And plus if I don't drink some I will get a really bad caffiene withdrawl headache. I have also decided I will walk for 30 minutes every day. Please wish me luck and if this doesn't work does anyone know the name of a rehab that helps people that are addicted to carbonated soft drinks?

I know just how you feel, KK. I am addicted to diet coke with lime. I WILL drink diet coke without lime in an emergency, but thats about all I drink. Occasionally I'll get a hankering for Dr pepper, creme soda, or Cherokee red, but after 1 glass I'll have my fill. LOL. I drink a whole heck of a lot of diet coke with lime because I don't like water , I ced tea, or many juices either. I do drink coffee too. I used to worry about it too, but I've decided that since I quit smoking I'll KEEP my diet coke with lime addiction! I know the artificial sweeteners are really bad for me, but too bad! Almost everything is bad for us these days anyway.

Well, you have to take step 2 now. (O.K. We'll pretend I know what step 2 is in the real 12 step program) Step 2: You must be accountable. Go apologize to all the people you have swiped Pepsi from. Tell your kids you are sorry you thought having your case of Pepsi was more important than food for them. I'm not addicted to soda but I am to coffee but luckily I drink it black so no calories there. But it doesn't help my acid reflux any. My biggest down fall is putting something fattening and creamy on everything I eat.

But the bad thing when i did this I had alot of headaches at first but now I fell so much better. And I know now I dont need to have the pepsi. And maybe the next time you see me I will have lost alot of weight

First KK, I have to tell you that you are not fat. You don't even look like you are a little overweight to me, but Mt Dew is what packed the pounds on me so you are better off quitting now before you end up with 30 or 40 lbs to get rid of.
I confess. I have been battling the Mt Dew habit since we got back from NY and I saw the pictures. I have good days and bad days but I'm determined to lose rather than continue to slowly keep getting larger.
I usually have water with a squeeze of lemon when we go out so I started drinking that at home also. I still have Mt Dew but I do find that when I am hydrated enough with water, I don't want to drink the Dew like I did.
OK, what is step 2?

LOL JJ! Thanks CG but I have definitely put on some pounds. The thing that makes me feel the worst is that I weigh more now than I did when I was 6 months pregnant. If I could just lose that 10-15 lbs. of Pepsi sloshing around in my stomach I would be happy.

Well I started out strong but I have since fallen off the Pepsi wagon. Yesterday I took Sean to the zoo and all I brought was water. It was such a nightmare and he was so out of control that I found myself feening for a Pepsi the way a drug addict needs crack. I ended up paying $2.75 for a medium fountain soda. But it was so worth it. Other than that I have been doing pretty good. Thanks for asking!

I am with charliegirl, I am a Mt Dew addict. I have been able to stop for each of my pregnancies and while nursing my babies, but as soon as that baby weans, I celebrate with a Dew!! I am like kk though, when I am stressed, I reach for that green can like it is a life preserver!
I did manage to sit through Chase's whole abysmal baseball game last night, and watch the whole team play the worst game of the season (and suffer their only loss) and even though there were 2 cans of Mt Dew in my cooler, I only removed a bottle of water.....so that is progress.
I am convinced if I quit the dew habit, I would lose some weight as well. I weigh as much as I did when 9 months pregnant, which is sooo depressing!
We need to start our own carbonated beverage addict support group! And jj can be grandfathered in....we need someone that doesn't hear the siren song of carbonation to keep us on the straight and narrow!

You two are cracking me up. ....."fell off the Pepsi wagon" and the "siren song of carbonation"......hee, hee, hee, hee. Well, it sounds like you both are making a good effort. My addiction to coffee may not make me gain weight but it is so hard on my stomach. I need to cut back, this I know and I do a little when my stomach is acting up but once it is better....I'm back to the same old thing...coffee on my desk all day long.
