Hello everyone I am a stay at home mom of 4 children (stay at home because its hard to keep a job when your son refuses to go to school some mornings).
I have 3 girls (15, 6 and 4) and 1 son (8). My CJ started his behavior problems rather young in life but apparantly behavior problems in a 1 year old is early onset terrible twos then of course at 2 they won't diagnose a child with anything. At 4 his behavioral problems were labeled sibling rivalry, poor parenting and I should choose my battles, pick a punishment and stick with it. At 5 when he was in Kindergarten they put him in counseling and labeled his unwillingness to go to school separation anxiety which his counselor quickly said absolutly not - she said his willingness to go play with her on thier first meeting was definately not separation anxiety but that she could see him in the future being diagnosed with ODD but she wouldn't "label" him at the first meeting. After 3 months of counseling all behavior was corrected with different discipline's she had us try at home so she refused to label him anything and sent us on our way.
Presently - my son will turn 9 in 18 days and at least twice a day we get into yelling matches and he runs up the stairs letting me know how much he hates me, wishes he were never born, and hopes that I am cursed.
I have had to stop taking him to church on Sundays because I am his Sunday School teacher and well enough said.
I honestly cannot tell you where the current problem started or when the behaviors started going haywire again all I can say is that there definately isn't enough coffee in the world to keep this mommy sane anymore.
I called my sons doctor this morning - they checked his file and she gave me the Vanderbilt paperwork to fill out so basically I guess - This is the first step - <taking a big deep breath>
