I do the same thing here....no matter how old the child is we pop in a disney movie, put out some rest mats and blankets and they have to sit on the mat or lay down for the length of the movie. I prefer that they don't converse but they sometimes do comment to each other briefly on the movie.
They all know that they do not have to sleep, just rest, and as soon as it is over, I have snack ready.
I am so glad that the babysitter is trying out your suggestions! Hopefully things will all work out.

Katie...so glad Sean is having an easier time at the sitters! I'm doing a happy dance for you both! The down time sounds wonderful. I found when Josh was that young it really helped too. Actually, even at 10 1/2 he still needs it. Keep us updated...

On Friday she told me things are going well-much better than the first few days. I think with the combination of the quiet time and Sean now realizing she is not going to tolerate his disrespect and she will tell us when he does disrespect her things are settling down.

That's great it's supposed to be fun to go to the sitters house as long as the sitter and the child are on the same page. I hope she is going to be a big asset in the long run as well. ;D

Well...the day couldn't be all good. Yes, the babysitter has quit. I believe it was 2 weeks she lasted. It's just "too much" for her. I can understand her position, believe me, BUT a little notice would have been nice. So tonight I had to scramble for a sitter for tomorrow but we have no idea what were going to do beyond that.

Oh no I'm sorry to hear this. I hope you find someone (did you try that site Misty suggested) I'm curious to see if they have someone that has enough patince, time, structure and an ADHD friendly enviornment to fit Sean's needs. I just recently was offered one of my old part time jobs back once a week 3-4 hrs a day and I'm considering looking for someone with the right touch to handle Jake's many sides. I don't feel I can ask my nieghbor to watch both kids. I think it's to much for her. Hang in there .....................hugs to get by on
